Gurgaon Woman Refuses Cab Fare, Threatens Driver After Hours-Long Ride
Gurgaon woman refuses cab fare, threatens driver

A woman in Gurgaon has been accused of refusing to pay her cab fare after an hours-long journey and threatening the driver with police action, according to authorities. The incident, reported on Tuesday, has led to a police case after the driver filed a formal complaint.

Driver's Harrowing Account of the Day-Long Ride

According to the police, cab driver Ziauddin, a native of Dhana village in Nuh district, filed the complaint. He stated that the passenger, identified as Jyoti Dalal, booked a ride at 8 am on Tuesday. Her demands kept changing throughout the day.

First, she asked to be driven to Sector 31, then to the bus stand, and finally to Cyber City. During these stops, she allegedly asked Ziauddin for money. He gave her Rs 700, and he also made payments for her food and drinks at various places she visited.

The situation escalated in the afternoon when Ziauddin asked her to pay the fare and end the ride. "She became enraged," the driver told police, alleging that Dalal then threatened to frame him for serious crimes if he persisted with his demand for payment.

A Pattern of Similar Alleged Frauds Uncovered

The driver further alleged that Dalal went to the Sector 29 Police Station and created a ruckus. After she left, Ziauddin explained the entire incident to the officers.

This interaction led the police to a startling discovery. They realized that Jyoti Dalal was the same woman involved in previous cheating cases. Authorities revealed she had a history of similar alleged scams:

  • She allegedly cheated a salon of Rs 20,000.
  • She refused to pay Rs 2,000 to another cab driver.
  • A video of her arguing with a cab driver over a fare in February 2024 had also gone viral online.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

Taking cognizance of the driver's complaint and the past record, the police have initiated legal action. Sector 29 Police Station SHO Ravi Kumar confirmed that an FIR has been registered against Jyoti Dalal.

"We have registered an FIR against Jyoti Dalal under fraud and other sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A probe is underway, and she will be arrested soon," stated SHO Kumar. The case highlights the risks faced by service providers and the legal recourse available to them.
