Gurugram Doctor in SUV Runs Over Delivery Agent Multiple Times in Road Rage
A shocking incident of road rage unfolded in Gurugram's Sector 93 on Monday night. A 43-year-old delivery agent suffered critical injuries after an Ayurvedic doctor allegedly ran him over at least four times with his SUV.
CCTV Footage Captures Horrific Attack
A purported CCTV video surfaced on social media platforms. The footage shows five to six Swiggy delivery riders standing at a roadside pickup point. They were waiting to collect an order when a black Scorpio suddenly appeared.
The SUV first struck the delivery agent, identified as Tinku, and sped away from the scene. Moments later, the vehicle returned to the location. The driver swerved deliberately toward the group of delivery executives.
He rammed into their parked motorcycles before fleeing the area once again. The entire sequence lasted just a few terrifying minutes.
Parking Dispute Triggers Violent Outburst
Police identified the accused as Naveen Yadav, an Ayurvedic practitioner. He works at a government primary health centre in Daultabad. According to news agency PTI, the attack resulted from a longstanding parking dispute.
The victim would regularly park his motorcycle in front of the accused's Scorpio. This caused consistent problems for Naveen, who lives in Hayatpur village. He developed a grudge against the delivery executive over time.
On Sunday night around 10:30 pm, Naveen allegedly acted on his anger. He committed the gruesome act in what investigators describe as a bout of rage. The accused resides in Bhagat Singh Colony, located near a Swiggy store.
Police Action and Community Outrage
Authorities registered an FIR at the Sector 10 police station on Sunday night. They took Naveen Yadav into custody on Monday evening following intensive interrogation.
Outraged by the incident, delivery workers gathered at the Sector 93 police post on Monday. They demanded the prompt arrest of the accused. The gathering dispersed only after police provided assurances about taking action.
Law enforcement officials confirmed the arrest later that same evening. The victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
Separate Incident Highlights Delivery Worker Vulnerabilities
In another concerning development, an 18-year-old delivery worker faced assault in east Delhi's Old Kondli area last week. The teenager, identified as Kumar, works for a quick-commerce platform.
According to police reports, an altercation began when Kumar allegedly sprayed perfume from a shop on himself. The store owner noticed this act and started scolding him.
The situation quickly escalated into a heated argument. The owner then allegedly restrained the delivery worker and physically assaulted him. Kumar approached police afterward and lodged a formal complaint.
He underwent a medical examination as part of the investigation. Authorities recorded his detailed statement about the assault incident.
These incidents highlight the growing vulnerabilities faced by delivery workers across urban centers. They often encounter conflicts during their daily routines while providing essential services.
