Police in Rohtak have arrested a man for allegedly raping a woman from Gurugram at an animal farm in the Meham area after luring her under the pretext of showing dogs. The incident occurred on July 6, and the accused has been booked under Section 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to a complaint filed by the victim.
Victim's Journey and Encounter with the Accused
The victim traveled to Rohtak on July 5 to meet a female friend staying at a paying guest (PG) accommodation. She stayed there until the evening of July 6. Knowing her fondness for dogs, the friend provided the victim with the phone number of the accused, stating that he operated a dog farm.
In her complaint, the victim stated: “When I contacted him to see the dogs, he called me near a village, from where he picked me up in his car and took me to a farmhouse on the pretext of showing me the dogs.” The victim alleged that upon reaching the farmhouse, the accused asked her to wait inside a room while he went to get the dogs.
Sexual Assault and Immediate Reporting
The accused returned 15 minutes later, bolted the room from inside, and raped the woman, according to the complaint. He assaulted her a second time ten minutes later. After the assault, the victim went to the bathroom, where she immediately contacted both her friend and the police to report the crime.
Inspector Neeraj, Station House Officer (SHO) of Meham Police Station, confirmed the arrest: “The accused has been arrested after being booked under rape charges.” The police have registered a case under Section 64(1) of the BNS, which deals with rape.
Legal and Social Implications
The case highlights the use of deception to commit sexual assault, where the perpetrator exploited the victim's interest in animals. Authorities have urged women to exercise caution when meeting unknown individuals, even if introduced through friends. The investigation is ongoing, and the accused is in police custody.
