Haryana Police Chief Chairs High-Level Meeting to Strengthen Law and Order
Senior officials from Haryana Police gathered on Monday for a crucial meeting aimed at intensifying efforts to strengthen the state's law and order situation. The top brass discussed concrete strategies to weed out criminals involved in organized crime during the session held at the Dial 112 headquarters in Panchkula.
DGP Emphasizes Robust Policing as Top Priority
Director General of Police Ajay Singhal personally chaired the important meeting. He categorically reiterated that maintaining robust law and order remains the highest priority for the police force. Singhal stressed that achieving this goal requires effective, accountable, and responsive policing at the field level.
The police chief announced he would soon undertake visits to every commissionerate, range, and district across Haryana. During these visits, he plans to personally review law-and-order arrangements, police deployment patterns, and operational functioning on the ground.
Focus on Sensitive Issues and Crime Analysis
Singhal directed officers to maintain close monitoring at the district police chief level in sensitive matters. These include issues involving students, farmers, religious concerns, and caste-related disputes. He emphasized the need for swift and balanced action at the very initial stage of such conflicts.
The DGP observed that such issues often become emotionally charged quickly. They can escalate rapidly if timely intervention does not occur, making situations difficult to control later. He instructed each district to conduct detailed reviews of major crime categories including:
- Crimes against women
- Murder cases
- Theft incidents
- Robbery offenses
- Snatching crimes
Singhal stated that analyzing trends reflecting increases or decreases in these offences would clearly identify districts performing better in crime control. This analysis would also highlight strategies that proved effective in reducing criminal activities.
Replicating Best Practices Across Districts
The police chief emphasized that best practices adopted by well-performing districts should be replicated in districts witnessing increases in similar crimes. Police commissioners and superintendents of police received instructions to carry out police station-wise crime analysis. They must ensure strict action in cases where negligence or laxity is found among personnel.
Detailed Briefing on Law and Order Strategies
During the meeting, Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar provided a detailed briefing on steps taken so far to maintain law and order in Haryana. He also outlined future strategies for continued improvement.
Kumar pointed out that each district possesses distinct social, geographical, and sensitive characteristics. Therefore, superintendents of police must anticipate potential issues in advance and keep a ready "plan of action" for various scenarios.
He stressed the importance of strengthening the information and intelligence network across the state. Kumar emphasized paying close attention to intelligence inputs and remaining vigilant at all times. He further noted that many disputes could be resolved at early stages through timely dialogue and communication, thereby preventing deterioration of law-and-order situations.
Wide Participation in the Meeting
The significant meeting saw participation from numerous senior police officials including:
- ADGP (CID) Saurabh Singh
- Police Commissioner of Sonipat Mamta Singh
- Additional Directors General of Police K K Rao, Sanjay Kumar, Amitabh Dhillon, and C S Rao
- All ADGPs, Range IGs, and police commissioners from across Haryana
