According to police reports, the accident took place when a car carrying nine family members was returning from an engagement ceremony in Barwala. Around 9 pm, near Sarhera village, the vehicle first collided with a tractor-trailer, then veered off the road and crashed into a roadside tree. The impact was described as severe, causing extensive damage to the car and trapping the occupants inside.
