Hisar Police Uncovers Illegal Arms Manufacturing Unit in Sirsa District
The Hisar police made a significant breakthrough on Tuesday, announcing the discovery of an illegal arms manufacturing unit in Sirsa district. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the operation, and authorities have recovered a substantial cache of weapons and equipment used in the production of firearms.
Operation Details and Arrests
The police action commenced on April 11, when a team from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar, conducted a routine patrol. During this patrol, they apprehended Sahil, a resident of Khasa Mahajan village, who was found in possession of a .315-bore pistol and two live cartridges.
Following his arrest, Sahil was interrogated, during which he revealed that he had procured the weapon from Raju, a resident of Farmai Kalan village in Sirsa. Acting on this information, the CIA team swiftly conducted a raid and arrested Raju from his village.
Confession and Seizure of Evidence
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamaljit Singh stated that during questioning, Raju confessed to manufacturing illegal firearms at his residence. A subsequent search of his premises led to the recovery of a large quantity of weapons and manufacturing equipment.
The seized items include:
- Pistol components and finished barrels
- Live cartridges and pipes used in cartridge-making
- Springs and various tools such as files, chisels, and screwdrivers
- Heavy equipment including an electric cutter, drill machine, and a welding unit
Officials described the setup as functioning like a small-scale factory dedicated to producing country-made weapons, highlighting the sophistication of the illegal operation.
Ongoing Investigation and Future Steps
The police are now intensifying their investigation to determine if the arrested individuals were part of a larger network involved in the illegal arms supply chain. An official involved in the case emphasized that further interrogation is underway to identify other accomplices and trace the distribution network of these weapons.
This bust underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat illegal arms manufacturing and distribution in the region, aiming to enhance public safety and security.
