Hyderabad: Two alleged cocaine peddlers linked to the drugs seized during the March raid at former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy's farmhouse appeared before police following high court directions, with SIT investigators claiming to have traced the cocaine supply chain.
Questioning and Confessions
SIT officials, who questioned Abhishek Singh and Rakesh Varma multiple times since May 20 after issuing notices under section 35(3) of BNSS, said Rakesh allegedly confessed to procuring cocaine from a Mumbai-based supplier, Mazher, in Dec 2025 and routing it to advocate Kaushik Ravi, one of the accused in the high-profile case, through Abhishek, an interior designer from Rajendra Nagar.
“Rakesh, a resident of Bahadurpura, who runs a battery and metals business, said that he knew the advocate due to business-related sales tax/GST cases. Abhishek knew Rakesh through interior designing work done for him. Abhishek claimed that he only delivered the package to a person as per Rakesh's instructions and he was not aware of its contents,” said an investigator.
GSR Test and Other Developments
SIT sources also claimed that a gunshot residue (GSR) sample collected from the palms of Namith Sharma, the main accused who allegedly fired the former MLA’s brother Ritesh Reddy’s licensed revolver into the air during the raid, tested positive. However, police could not obtain fingerprints from the firearm as it had allegedly been handled by multiple people during seizure.
While investigators claim progress in tracing the cocaine source, they are yet to nab Clinton, the alleged Goa-based supplier linked to the MDMA trail. A Jubilee Hills doctor, who was issued a section 35(3) notice for allegedly supplying MDMA to the accused, reportedly told investigators he had sourced the contraband from Clinton around two years ago.
Police said Kaushik’s driver, Ather, who allegedly transported MDMA from Jubilee Hills to the farmhouse, is being treated as a witness and not an accused. TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, who allegedly tested positive for narcotic consumption, is yet to appear for questioning.
Background of the Raid
During the March 14 raid at Rohith Reddy’s farmhouse, a joint team of EAGLE and Future City police arrested 11 persons, with six testing positive for cocaine and MDMA consumption. Rohith Reddy, Ritesh and Namith were remanded, while the others were served notices. Currently, no accused is in jail.
