The Hyderabad Cyber Crime police have registered a case against a 28-year-old man for allegedly harassing, abusing, and blackmailing a 51-year-old entrepreneur and former Zilla Parishad (ZP) chairperson. The accused, identified as Pedda Bhavi Naga Nandishwar Reddy from Badangpet, was previously booked in a similar case by the Meerpet police in 2024 for harassing the same victim.
Complaint Details
According to police, the case was filed on Wednesday night after the victim approached the Cyber Crime police station with a complaint of continuous harassment and threats. The complainant alleged that the accused repeatedly called her and her family members, posted videos on social media with offensive sexual remarks, and circulated objectionable content through WhatsApp status updates to damage her reputation.
Specific Allegations
The complainant stated: "The accused was directly naming me in social media posts, making vulgar comments, issuing threats, and circulating objectionable content through WhatsApp status updates to various people. The accused also threatened to die by suicide for no reason, and his erratic behavior seems to have been under the influence of some substance abuse, which needs to be evaluated."
She further told police that the harassment was not new and referenced an earlier First Information Report (FIR) registered against the accused at Meerpet police station in 2024 under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act for voyeurism and criminal intimidation.
Legal Action Taken
Based on the complaint, the Cyber Crime police registered a case under Section 67 of the IT Act and Sections 78 (Stalking), 351(2) (Criminal intimidation), and 308(2) (Extortion) of the BNS.
