Hyderabad Family Tragedy: Woman and Two Sons Found Dead at Residence

In a deeply distressing incident, a woman and her two children were discovered deceased at their home in the Khaitlapur area under the jurisdiction of the Kukatpally police station on Tuesday. The police are currently investigating the circumstances, with preliminary suspicions pointing toward the woman taking her own life due to severe emotional distress stemming from her husband's second marriage. However, the exact causes of the children's deaths remain undetermined pending further investigation.

Victims Identified as Mother and Two Young Sons

The deceased have been identified as S Banoth Sravanthi, aged 29, and her sons Karthik, 12, and Koushik, 10. The family resided in Khaitlapur, where the tragic discovery was made. According to police reports, Sravanthi had been married to Praveen, an air conditioning mechanic from Chennaraopet, for approximately 13 years before relocating to Khaitlapur.

Marital Discord and Family Turmoil Preceded the Incident

Trouble began when Praveen reportedly developed a relationship with another woman and subsequently married her, leading to significant marital discord. This situation escalated into frequent quarrels between Praveen and Sravanthi, ultimately prompting her to leave with her children and return to her parents' home in Warangal just four days prior to the incident.

On Monday night, with the intervention of family elders, Praveen managed to persuade Sravanthi to return to their Khaitlapur residence along with the children. The following day, tragedy struck when Praveen returned from work at 1:30 PM to find the main door locked from the inside.

Discovery of the Bodies and Police Response

After repeated knocks went unanswered, Praveen, assisted by neighbors, forcibly opened the door. Inside, they discovered Sravanthi and her two sons hanging. Local residents immediately alerted the Kukatpally police through the Dial 100 emergency service at around 2:30 PM.

Police teams swiftly arrived at the scene and transported the bodies for post-mortem examination to determine the precise causes of death. Balanagar ACP P Naresh Reddy stated, "We suspect that Sravanthi hung herself, and the cause of death of her two sons can only be ascertained after post-mortem."

Legal Action and Investigation Underway

In response to the incident, Kukatpally DCP Riti Raj announced that a case of abetment to suicide would be registered against Praveen under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This legal step underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case, particularly in light of the alleged marital issues that may have contributed to the tragedy.

The investigation is ongoing, with police focusing on gathering all relevant evidence and witness statements to piece together the events leading up to the deaths. The community has been left in shock, highlighting the profound impact of domestic distress and the need for support systems in such situations.
