In a significant crackdown on illegal arms manufacturing, a joint team of Special Task Force (STF) and district police uncovered a clandestine mini gun factory operating in Bihar's Lakhisarai district on Sunday.
Factory Operation Under Dairy Business Cover
The illegal operation was discovered in Anandpur village under the Surajgarh police station area. According to Lakhisarai SP Ajay Kumar, police received intelligence several days ago indicating that an illegal arms factory had been functioning for months at the residence of one Prem Kumar.
"After thorough verification of the information, we formed a joint team comprising STF Patna and district police personnel who conducted the raid," stated SP Kumar. The factory was cleverly disguised as a dairy business, with authorities revealing that the operators used generators and loud sound boxes to mask the noise of weapon-making machinery and avoid suspicion from neighbors and local residents.
Massive Haul of Weapons and Equipment
During the extensive raid operation, law enforcement officials seized a substantial quantity of arms-making equipment and semi-finished weapons. The recovered items included:
- One country-made pistol
- Two live cartridges
- 40 semi-finished pistols
- 20 sliders and 45 barrels
- 21 butt grips and 10 body plates
Additionally, police confiscated drill machines, lathe and milling machines, generators, sound boxes, and two motorcycles used in the illegal operation. The sophisticated setup indicated a well-established manufacturing unit capable of producing significant quantities of illegal firearms.
Six Arrested in Connection with Arms Racket
The police operation resulted in the arrest of six individuals identified as residents of Munger district. The arrested accused include:
- Prem Kumar alias Pappu Yadav (factory owner)
- Bittu Kumar alias Mohammad Khan
- Mohammad Chand
- Mohammad Gulzar
- Mohammad Shahnawaz
- Mohammad Raj alias Raju
During preliminary interrogation, the smugglers confessed to supplying illegal weapons to nearby districts, revealing the extent of their distribution network. SP Kumar confirmed that interrogation of all arrested individuals is ongoing, and police are actively searching for other people connected to the weapons supply network.
The successful operation represents a significant blow to illegal arms manufacturing in the region, with authorities continuing their investigation to dismantle the entire supply chain.
