In a significant crackdown on illegal weapon manufacturing, the Khagaria police on Friday unearthed a mini arms factory during a targeted raid. The operation led to the arrest of one individual and the seizure of firearms, unfinished weapons, and manufacturing equipment.
Tip-Off Leads to Major Raid
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team swung into action in the Jaralhiya Bahiyar area under the Mufassil police station jurisdiction. The raid was conducted under the leadership of Sadar SDPO Mukul Kumar Ranjan and was supervised by Khagaria SP Rakesh Kumar.
The police team discovered that a clandestine workshop was operating in the area. This mini factory was actively involved in the production of illegal firearms. Investigations revealed that several local individuals were engaged in this illicit trade, supplying the illegal arms to various clients.
Arrest and Seizure
During the operation, the police apprehended Toofani Kumar, son of Gaurav Kumar from Jangli Tola, which falls under the same police station. The arrested individual was subsequently remanded to judicial custody under the stringent Arms Act.
The seizure from the site was substantial and included:
- A country-made pistol
- Several unfinished firearms
- Drilling machines
- Various other tools and equipment specifically used for manufacturing weapons
Ongoing Investigations and Implications
This successful raid highlights the persistent efforts of the Khagaria police to curb the menace of illegal arms proliferation in the region. The busting of this mini factory is expected to disrupt a local supply chain of illicit weapons.
Police authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing. They are probing the network associated with this illegal unit to identify other individuals involved in the manufacturing and supply operations. The arrest and seizure serve as a strong warning to those engaged in similar unlawful activities in the district.
