Indore Police solve Rs 30.20 lakh burglary, arrest teen

In a significant breakthrough, Lasudia Police in Indore have successfully solved a daring daytime burglary that occurred in the upscale Singapore Gold City area, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old accused from Ratlam and complete recovery of stolen valuables worth Rs 30.20 lakh.

The Daylight Burglary Incident

The theft took place on November 14, 2025, when the Bhargava family's locked residence near Lasudia Bypass became the target of a sophisticated burglary. According to the complaint filed by Ankush Bhargava, his wife Deepti Bhargava had left their home secured at approximately 5:50 PM and returned merely 50 minutes later at 6:40 PM to discover their house completely ransacked.

Investigations revealed that the perpetrator gained entry by forcibly breaking the lock on the balcony window. Once inside, the thief specifically targeted the cupboard in the main room, making away with substantial amounts of gold and silver jewellery. The calculated timing of the burglary, executed during the brief window when the house was unoccupied, pointed to either careful planning or surveillance of the residents' movements.

Police Investigation and Breakthrough

Recognizing the seriousness of the crime, Lasudia Police immediately constituted a special investigation team under senior leadership. The team was headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 2 Kumar Prateek, with Additional DCP Amarendra Singh and ACP Vijay Nagar Rajkumar Saraf providing supervisory support. Lasudia TI Taresh Kumar Soni led the ground-level investigative efforts.

Through meticulous investigation and intelligence gathering, the police team traced the accused to Ratlam. On Thursday, they arrested Hashim Ali (18), son of Raja, from his residence. During interrogation, the teenage suspect confessed to committing the burglary, revealing that his motive was to fund what police officials described as his "expensive tastes and luxurious lifestyle."

Complete Recovery and Additional Arrest

In a remarkable achievement, the police team managed to effect a 100% recovery of the stolen gold and silver jewellery valued at Rs 30.20 lakh. Additionally, the scooty used in commission of the crime was seized as evidence.

Further investigation revealed that Hashim Ali had handed over the stolen items to his mother with instructions to sell them. Consequently, his mother has also been named as an accused in the case and has been arrested for her involvement in the criminal conspiracy.

Police officials disclosed that Hashim Ali has a previous criminal record, with similar theft cases already registered against him. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of BNS 2023, and further investigation is ongoing to determine if he was involved in other unsolved theft cases in the region.
