Jailed gangster directs attack via WhatsApp video call
In a shocking incident in Ludhiana's Rishi Nagar, around 12 miscreants armed with sharp weapons and sticks broke into a house late Thursday evening and attacked a man and his father. The attack was orchestrated in real-time by a jailed gangster, Movish Bains, who was connected to the assailants via a WhatsApp video call, issuing orders from behind bars.
CCTV footage captures the assault
CCTV footage from the scene shows the suspects entering the house carrying swords and axes. The victims were identified as Rahul and his father Bagga Lal. Rahul sustained serious head injuries and is currently battling for his life at the DMCH hospital. From his hospital bed, Rahul narrated the incident, revealing that one of the attackers held a mobile phone with a WhatsApp video call in progress, with the jailed gangster shouting, "Beat him, abuse him."
Victim recounts the attack
Rahul stated that he was sitting at home with his family when the miscreants broke the main door and entered. They were armed with sharp weapons and an illegal weapon. They repeatedly struck him on the head and forehead with the butt of a pistol. When his father Bagga Lal saw him lying in a pool of blood and ran to his rescue, the assailants also assaulted him. The attackers pointed pistols at both and threatened to kill them if they made any noise.
The attackers included Yuvraj Sidhu, his brother Vishal, Tanish, Sam, and Mutu, among others who are being identified through the CCTV footage. Sources indicate that both sides had openly challenged each other on social media, and the same attackers had appeared outside Rahul's house about a week ago, abusing and threatening him.
Police investigation underway
Based on the statements of Rahul and Bagga Lal, along with the CCTV footage, the police have launched an investigation. SHO of PAU police station, Amritpal Singh, said that the victims' statements are yet to be recorded, and action will be taken as per law. The police are also probing the entire network operating from the prison.
