Jalandhar: Bullets were fired at a fashion store near Kishanpura Chowk on Friday afternoon, a day after the owners reportedly received an extortion call. Two bike-borne men fired two bullets at the store at 3:21 pm. Police officials rushed to the spot after receiving the information.
Shop owner Subhash Verma said his son received a call at 5:30 pm on Thursday demanding Rs 50 lakh, threatening that they would see a trailer in two hours. On Friday, they arrived at 3:21 pm and fired two bullets at the shop, he stated.
"When police officers were here, we received another call from the same number challenging that we could call police officers but we would have to cough up the money or members of our family would face the consequences," Verma said.
