Jamshedpur Shooting: Man Killed Over Money, Three Held

A 27-year-old man died after being shot in the neck under the Ulidih police station limits in Mango late Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Devdas Gaud, a resident of Rajnagar in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Incident Details

According to police, Gaud sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was rushed to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH), where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Three suspects—Debashish Poddar, Neeraj Pradhan, and Shiva Gaud—were arrested on Wednesday and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.

Preliminary Investigation

Initial inquiries revealed that the shooting occurred in Kharia Basti during a heated argument under the influence of alcohol, stemming from a financial dispute. Debashish allegedly fired the gun in a fit of rage. A country-made pistol was recovered from the scene.

Bablu Pradhan, the victim's brother, stated that Devdas left home around 4 pm on Tuesday. The family was unaware of the events that led to the fatal altercation.

Police Involvement

Pankaj Kumar, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) at the RIT police station in Adityapur, was questioned in connection with the case. However, he was cleared of any involvement. Officer-in-charge of Ulidih police station, Mohammed Sharik Ali, said, “The ASI had come to the hospital to see the injured person after receiving information about the incident. Investigation confirmed that he was not involved in the case in any way.”

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are gathering further evidence to build a strong case against the accused.
