Dengue Death Toll Reaches Three in Palakkad in a Week

A 42-year-old man has died of dengue fever in Palakkad district, raising the death toll from the disease to three within a week. The deceased, identified as Jijo Mohan of Vallikkad in Karimpuzha, passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Perinthalmanna.

Recent Dengue Deaths in Palakkad

This latest fatality comes as dengue cases surge across the district. A 62-year-old woman from Karimpuzha died a few days ago, and a 73-year-old woman from Pattambi succumbed to dengue on June 13. Health department data shows that two dengue-related deaths were also reported in May.

Rising Case Numbers

Officials confirmed that 543 people have sought treatment for dengue fever in the district so far this month. The Mannarkkad region has recorded the highest number of cases, prompting authorities to intensify surveillance and preventive measures.
