Dehradun: Congress’s Uttarakhand in-charge Kumari Selja on Wednesday held a series of meetings with party functionaries in the state to review organisational preparedness and gather feedback amid speculation that the next assembly elections could be advanced.
The meetings began with district presidents and mahanagar chiefs, followed by interactions with heads of various party committees. The visit marks Selja’s third trip to Uttarakhand in recent weeks, during which she has travelled extensively across Kumaon and Garhwal regions.
State Congress chief spokesperson Garima Dasauni said the exercise was aimed at assessing the party’s grassroots strength and preparing for the upcoming electoral battle.
“For a winning strategy, she is interacting with everyone from the state leadership to grassroots workers,” Dasauni said, adding that Selja reviewed the work carried out by party office-bearers.
Her visit comes amid growing political speculation that the assembly elections, due in 2027, could be held ahead of schedule.
Selja is also expected to meet former MPs, ex-MLAs and senior leaders to seek constituency-wise feedback. “Their assessment of all assembly segments will be taken, and responsibilities in different constituencies will be discussed,” Dasauni said.
