Increased Drone Activity from Pakistan
Security forces reported multiple drone sightings from the Pakistan side crossing the Line of Control. On Tuesday evening, drones were observed in Rajouri district's Manjakote and Keri sectors. Troops opened fire, causing the drones to retreat back to Pakistani territory.
This incident marks the second such occurrence in just three days. Similar drone sightings were reported on Sunday in several locations including Kalsian village in Nowshera sector and areas in Kalakote, Mankote, and Ramgarh.
Security forces have recovered weapons dropped by drones in recent operations. In Samba district, authorities seized a consignment containing pistols, magazines, rounds, and a grenade. These recoveries have raised serious concerns about potential security threats.

Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a crucial security meeting at the Convention Centre. The gathering included top officials from security forces, police, and intelligence agencies operating in Jammu and Kashmir. They discussed several pressing issues:

- Reports of terrorist movement in hinterland areas

India has formally protested to Pakistan regarding the drone intrusions. While officials acknowledge the increased suspicious activities since January 10, they emphasize that determining exact motives requires further investigation.

Security forces have launched extensive search operations across Jammu province. These combing operations aim to neutralize any potential threats and ensure public safety during the Republic Day period.
The civil administration has implemented several precautionary measures:
- A two-month ban on adventure activities in high-altitude forest areas of the Pir Panjal range
- Continued restrictions in Danwass forests near Gulmarg
- A two-month prohibition on VPN services in multiple districts
Authorities cite security threats and potential misuse by anti-social elements as reasons for these restrictions. Police have already registered cases against individuals violating the VPN ban.
