A shocking case of sexual violence has emerged from Kanpur's Juhi locality. A man stands accused of raping his landlord's teenage daughter. He allegedly recorded a video of the crime and assaulted the girl on multiple occasions.
Teenager's Ordeal Leads to Pregnancy and Abandonment
The victim, a 17-year-old girl, became pregnant as a result of the alleged assaults. The accused man then vacated the rented house and fled the area. He left the teenager and her family to deal with the consequences alone.
On January 9, the young girl gave birth at her home. In a tragic turn of events, her family abandoned the newborn infant on the very same day. The baby was left without care or protection.
Police Discovery and Investigation
Juhi police station in-charge KK Patel provided details about the case. On the morning of January 9, officers found an abandoned newborn in the locality. They immediately admitted the infant to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital for medical attention.
The police launched a thorough investigation. They checked CCTV footage from the area. This footage revealed that the accused man, originally from Unnao, had been living in the neighborhood on rent.
Legal Action and Arrest
Based on a formal complaint filed by the victim's father, the police registered a case against the accused. They charged him under sections related to rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Officers tracked down the suspect near Baradevi intersection on Thursday. They placed him under arrest and sent him to jail. The legal process against him is now underway.
This case highlights several disturbing aspects:
- The alleged perpetrator was someone the family knew as a tenant
- The crime was reportedly recorded on video
- The victim faced repeated assaults
- The family's decision to abandon the newborn adds another layer of tragedy
Local authorities continue their investigation while ensuring the victim receives necessary support. The case serves as a grim reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young women and the importance of swift police action in such matters.
