Swift Police Action Recovers Stolen Infant in Kanpur
In a dramatic overnight operation, the Panki police in Kanpur successfully rescued a four-month-old infant who was brutally snatched from his family at the Panki Hanuman temple complex. The heart-wrenching incident occurred late Friday evening when the child was resting peacefully in his sister's lap.
The Temple Abduction
The peaceful atmosphere at the popular Panki Hanuman temple turned into a scene of horror when an unidentified woman suddenly grabbed the infant from his 13-year-old sister's arms. Before anyone could react, the woman fled the scene in a waiting auto-rickshaw, leaving the family in utter shock and despair.
The distraught parents, who reside in Tharu Basti, Rawatpur, immediately alerted the authorities. Police officials rushed to the temple complex upon receiving the information and began their investigation without delay.
Technology Leads to Breakthrough
Investigators turned to modern technology for clues, meticulously examining CCTV footage from the temple complex and surrounding areas. The footage proved crucial in identifying the suspect and tracing the auto-rickshaw used in the escape.
Panki police station in-charge Manoj Bhadauria revealed that an informer recognized the woman from the CCTV images, which prompted immediate raids in Shastri Nagar area. The police team moved swiftly and managed to arrest both the woman and her husband by Saturday.
Emotional Reunion and Confession
In a emotional moment that brought relief to the devastated family, police handed over the unharmed infant to his mother on Saturday. The accused woman confessed during interrogation that she stole the child because she was childless and desperately wanted a baby of her own.
The police are continuing their interrogation of the couple to determine if there are any other motives or if they were involved in similar crimes previously. The quick response and efficient use of technology by Panki police ensured the child's safe return within 24 hours of the abduction.
The family, which includes the parents and their 13-year-old daughter who often begs near the temple, has expressed immense gratitude to the police force for their prompt action in reuniting them with their youngest member.
