In a disturbing incident at the Brims hospital in Karnataka, a group of youths allegedly assaulted a doctor on duty. The attack has sparked outrage among the medical community, prompting swift action from law enforcement. Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the assault, which occurred late Tuesday evening.
Details of the Incident
The victim, identified as Dr. Ramesh, was attending to patients in the emergency ward when a group of young men entered the premises. According to eyewitnesses, the youths were agitated and began arguing with the doctor over a minor issue. The situation quickly escalated, leading to a physical altercation during which Dr. Ramesh was punched and kicked repeatedly.
Hospital staff intervened and alerted security, but the assailants fled before authorities arrived. Dr. Ramesh sustained injuries to his face and ribs and was treated for minor fractures. He is currently stable and recovering at the same hospital.
Police Response
Using CCTV footage and witness statements, the police identified and apprehended five suspects within hours. The accused are aged between 19 and 25 and are residents of nearby localities. They have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including assault, criminal intimidation, and causing grievous hurt.
Senior police officials have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and that the culprits will face strict legal action. Additional security measures have been implemented at the hospital to prevent such incidents in the future.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has condemned the attack and demanded enhanced security for healthcare workers. Dr. S. Meanwhile, the hospital administration has filed a complaint, and a case has been registered. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody and are expected to be produced in court shortly.
