Siya's message revealed in murder probe
A friend of Siya, the prime accused in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, has told police that Siya sent a message in May stating that her marriage to Agarwal was "not going to take place." The disclosure came during the ongoing investigation into the killing of the 28-year-old software engineer, whose body was found at Lohagad Fort in Pune district earlier this week.
According to a police official familiar with the case, the message was sent weeks before Agarwal's alleged murder. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the friend had voluntarily come forward with the information. The friend also provided screenshots of the conversation, which are now part of the evidence.
Details of the relationship
Ketan Agarwal and Siya had been in a relationship for several months and were planning to get married. However, friends of both parties have indicated that there were frequent disagreements in recent weeks. Siya, a 26-year-old marketing professional, has been arrested along with two other individuals for their alleged involvement in the murder.
The police have not yet revealed the motive behind the crime, but the message suggests that the relationship had soured significantly before the incident. Investigators are now trying to establish if the murder was premeditated or occurred during a heated argument.
Chronology of events
Agarwal went missing on June 28 after telling his family he was going to meet Siya. His body was discovered the next day near Lohagad Fort, a popular trekking destination about 60 km from Pune. The post-mortem report indicated that he died due to blunt force trauma to the head.
Siya was taken into custody on July 2, and two other suspects were arrested on July 3. All three have been remanded to police custody until July 10. The police have recovered Agarwal's mobile phone and other personal belongings from the suspects.
Investigation ongoing
Police are now analyzing the digital evidence, including chat records and call logs, to piece together the events leading up to the murder. The message from May is considered a crucial piece of evidence as it shows Siya's state of mind regarding the relationship.
A senior police officer said, "We are examining all angles, including whether there was any financial motive or involvement of others. The accused are being interrogated separately." The officer added that more arrests cannot be ruled out.
The case has attracted significant public attention due to the gruesome nature of the crime and the involvement of a young couple. Agarwal's family has demanded strict punishment for the accused.
