Children's Kite-Flying Argument Sparks Violence in Barwani
Tension gripped Rajpur town in Madhya Pradesh's Barwani district after a seemingly innocent dispute among children over flying kites spiraled into a serious clash involving stone-pelting between two groups. The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, forced the local administration to deploy a significant additional police force to control the situation and prevent further escalation.
From Kite Strings to Stone Throwing: How the Situation Unfolded
According to Barwani Superintendent of Police Jagdish Dabar, the trouble began when children from two different communities got into a heated argument while flying kites. The verbal spat quickly turned physical, with one group allegedly assaulting members of the other. Following a formal complaint from one side, the police registered a case against three individuals from the opposing group and took one person into custody.
The situation, however, did not calm down. Later in the night, matters took a more dangerous turn. Members of one group reportedly entered the locality of the other and began heavy stone-pelting. The targeted side retaliated in kind, leading to a volatile exchange that spread panic throughout the area and significantly heightened communal tension.
Aftermath: Injuries, Damage, and Police Action
The violent confrontation resulted in injuries to several individuals. Three vehicles were also damaged in the melee. The chaos even affected a local fair being held nearby, where the sounds of violence triggered a minor stampede as people rushed to safety. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that there was no loss of life or report of any serious injury.
In response to the night-time violence, police swung into action. Additional Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Babbar stated that based on another complaint, a separate case was registered against 42 persons under sections related to assault, stone-pelting, and rioting. Further legal action continued into Sunday, with Rajpur police station in-charge Vikram Singh Bamnia confirming that a case was filed against five named individuals and 25 unidentified people from the other side on similar charges.
Heavy Police Deployment, Situation Now Under Control
To restore order and prevent any fresh outbreak of violence, the police department took swift precautionary measures. Personnel from various police stations were rushed to Rajpur town. Superintendent of Police Jagdish Dabar assured the public that additional police forces have been deployed in Rajpur and that the situation is currently under control. The heavy police presence aims to maintain law and order and reassure the local residents.
