Knife-Wielding Duo Strikes in Pune's Koregaon Park

A shocking armed robbery has rattled the upscale Koregaon Park neighbourhood in Pune. A 29-year-old housewife was targeted in her own home by two men who barged in with a knife and made off with cash and jewellery valued at a staggering Rs 11.4 lakh. The incident occurred on Saturday around 7:30 PM in Lane No. 5 of the area.

Details of the Terrifying Ordeal

According to the police complaint lodged by the victim, she was alone in the flat at the time of the robbery. The residence is shared by seven of her relatives. The suspects, armed with a knife, entered the premises and issued threats of dire consequences before proceeding to rob her.

The family runs a grocery shop in Koregaon Park. Fortunately, the police confirmed that the intruders did not physically assault the woman during the commission of the crime. The stolen items comprised a significant amount of jewellery and cash.

Police Investigation Underway

Senior police officials, including Senior Inspector Vijayraj Doke and Sub-Inspector Shrikant Chavan, along with crime branch teams, promptly visited the crime scene. They conducted a thorough inspection of the flat and its surrounding areas.

Investigators also scanned footage from nearby CCTV cameras in an attempt to identify the suspects and trace their movements. However, the initial review did not yield any suspicious findings, complicating the early stages of the probe.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale addressed the media, stating, "We are examining the case. We do not know where the suspects came from or where they escaped." This statement underscores the challenges faced by the police as they work to unravel the sequence of events and apprehend the culprits.

Community on Edge After Evening Robbery

The brazen nature of the robbery, occurring in the early evening in a prominent locality, has raised concerns about security. The fact that the assailants entered a home where multiple family members reside but struck when the victim was alone suggests possible planning.

The Pune police are continuing their investigation, pursuing all possible leads. The case highlights the need for heightened vigilance and security measures in residential areas, even in well-known neighbourhoods.
