A 48-year-old man from Tripunithura succumbed to severe injuries late on Monday night after a car veered off the road and struck him on a footpath near Kaloor Stadium Link Road in Kochi. The victim, identified as Pradeep Kumar, was walking along the footpath when the incident occurred at approximately 9:50 AM on Monday morning.

Details of the Fatal Incident

According to police reports, the car driver, a resident of Arangath Cross Road near Pullepady, lost control of his vehicle. The car reportedly swerved off the road, crashed onto the footpath, and hit Pradeep Kumar before overturning after colliding with a nearby lamp post. Pradeep Kumar, who worked for a private firm in the city, had just arrived at work in the morning and was stepping outside the establishment when the accident happened.

The victim sustained a critical head injury and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition. Despite medical efforts, he passed away later that night due to the severity of his injuries.

Driver's Surrender and Legal Proceedings

Following the accident, the driver voluntarily surrendered at the Palarivattom police station. Police confirmed that he was arrested and subsequently released on station bail. The driver claimed to investigators that he lost control of the car, which directly led to the tragic collision.
