Kurnool Police Launch Stern Crackdown on Traffic Violators and Sound Polluters

In a decisive move to curb noise pollution and enforce traffic regulations, Kurnool police conducted a special drive on Saturday, crushing modified motorcycle silencers and autorickshaw horns. The operation, supervised by Kurnool Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil, targeted violators who have been causing public distress with excessive vehicle noise.

Mass Destruction of Illegal Modifications

The police destroyed approximately 100 modified bike silencers and 500 high-decibel air horns near the historic Konda Reddy Buruju (Fort) in Kurnool. This public demonstration served as a stark warning to those who illegally alter their vehicles, creating nuisance-level noise that affects vulnerable populations.

SP Vikrant Patil emphasized that many youths have been installing aftermarket silencers on their motorcycles specifically to generate loud sounds. This practice has resulted in significant discomfort for residents, particularly elderly citizens, young children, and hospital patients who require quiet environments for recovery and daily life.

Legal Consequences and Public Safety Warning

The police issued a clear warning that violators will face severe penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act. Unauthorized vehicle modifications are illegal and offenders risk heavy fines along with potential seizure of their vehicles. SP Patil urged all vehicle owners to prioritize personal safety and strictly follow traffic regulations to support law enforcement efforts in maintaining public order.

This crackdown represents a proactive approach by Kurnool police to address growing concerns about noise pollution and traffic safety. By publicly destroying the confiscated items, authorities aim to deter future violations and promote community awareness about the negative impacts of excessive vehicle noise on public health and quality of life.
