Kutch Husband Allegedly Murders Wife Over Refusal to Cook Rotlas
In a shocking incident of domestic violence, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in Mota Dhavda village, located in Nakhatrana taluka of Kutch district. The tragic event occurred late on Tuesday night following a dispute over the preparation of dinner.
Victim and Accused Identified
The victim, identified as Nabu, was residing with her husband, Jenti Koli, on a farm situated on the outskirts of the village. Both individuals were employed as labourers, working to sustain their livelihood in the rural area.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Crime
According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by the victim's younger brother, Devji Koli, at the Nakhatrana police station, the incident unfolded around 10 PM on Tuesday. Jenti reportedly instructed Nabu to prepare rotlas for their evening meal. When she refused, a heated argument erupted between the couple.
In a fit of rage, Jenti allegedly attacked Nabu with a stick and a knife. The assault resulted in severe and fatal injuries to her head, neck, and body, leading to her untimely death.
Discovery of the Crime and Confession
The crime came to light the following morning when Devji, who works at a nearby farm, received information about a fight at his sister's residence. Upon arriving at the scene around 10 AM, he found villagers and police personnel gathered there. His sister was discovered lying dead, bearing multiple severe injuries.
Jenti, who was present at the location, allegedly confessed to his brother-in-law that he had killed Nabu following the argument over the rotlas. This admission added a grim layer to the already tragic situation.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement officials promptly shifted the victim's body to a government hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence.
A formal case has been registered against Jenti under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder. Additionally, he has been charged under Section 135 of the Gujarat Police Act, which pertains to actions that disturb public peace and order.
The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, examining all aspects of the case to ensure justice is served.
