The fatal incident occurred on May 18, 2020, when Sub-Inspector Munish Kumar Sharma, who was in charge of the RPF post at Uklana, was on patrol near the railway area. According to police reports, the RPF had received information about a scuffle near the railway line. Upon arriving at the scene, Sharma encountered three youths who allegedly opened fire on him.
Sharma sustained a bullet injury and was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital in Hisar. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries later that day.
