Live-in partner booked for abetment of suicide in Surat

A 20-year-old man has been booked by the Varachha police in Surat on charges of abetment of suicide after his live-in partner allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Vaishali, had been living with the accused, Dongar Patil, for the past year after entering into a live-in relationship.

According to police reports, Patil frequently harassed Vaishali, suspecting that she was involved in an extramarital affair. The constant arguments and harassment allegedly caused Vaishali significant distress, leading her to take the extreme step of hanging herself.

Following the incident, Vaishali's cousin, Shivaji Mali, filed a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case of abetment of suicide against Patil under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
