Love Dispute Escalates into Fatal Violence in Morbi
A bitter argument over a romantic relationship turned deadly in Morbi on Thursday night. The violent clash resulted in the death of a 60-year-old man, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Victim Identified as Kashu Chadmiya
Police have identified the deceased as Kashu Chadmiya. His son, Manoj, filed a formal complaint detailing the horrific events that led to his father's untimely demise.
According to Manoj's account, the trouble began on the night of January 14. Ajay Hathila allegedly approached him to discuss a romantic relationship with his sister, Geeta. Hathila expressed his intention to marry her, sparking an immediate and heated verbal confrontation between the two families.
Violent Assault Described in Complaint
Manoj claims the situation quickly spiraled out of control. He alleges that Ajay Hathila, along with accomplices Ajay Bhanubhai, Bunty Damor, and Deepu Arjan, launched a brutal attack.
The assailants reportedly used stones and wooden sticks during the assault. Manoj, his father Kashu, and others were targeted in this violent outburst.
The complaint states the four accused then dragged Kashu Chadmiya away from the main scene. They allegedly stabbed him in the thigh with a sharp weapon. This grievous injury proved fatal, leading to the elderly man's death.
Police Register Cases Under New Law
Acting on Manoj's complaint, the Morbi City B Division Police Station took swift action. They registered a formal case on Friday against the accused individuals.
The charges are serious and include rioting, assault, and murder. Police invoked specific sections of the newly implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), namely Sections 103(1), 115, and 125, along with other relevant legal provisions.
Counter-Complaint Filed by Other Side
In a surprising twist, Ajay Hathila also approached the police with his version of events. He filed a counter-complaint against Manoj, the now-deceased Kashu Chadmiya, and several relatives.
Hathila's complaint offers a different narrative. He claims he went to discuss his relationship with Geeta peacefully on January 14. He states that Manoj and his family members were gathered around a bonfire at the time.
Upon hearing his marriage proposal, Hathila alleges that Manoj and his relatives violently opposed the idea. He claims they attacked him and his friends with wooden sticks, inflicting serious injuries in the process.
Investigation Ongoing to Unravel Truth
With conflicting complaints from both sides, the Morbi police face a complex investigation. A total of nine individuals are now named in the registered cases.
Authorities have confirmed that a detailed probe is currently underway. Police are working to piece together the exact sequence of events that transpired that night. They aim to determine the specific role played by each person involved in this tragic incident.
