Lucknow Murder Case Takes Grim Turn as Son Accuses Wife and Nephew of Poisoning Mother
A tragic incident in Lucknow has escalated into a murder investigation following the death of a 65-year-old woman, with her son making shocking allegations against his wife and nephew. The case, which unfolded in Ibrahim Ganj village under Kakori on Mohan Road, has drawn significant police attention due to its disturbing nature.
Allegations of Poisoning and Property Motive
Complainant Manoj Rawat has accused his wife, Shalini, of mixing a toxic substance into a roti served to his mother, Shanti Devi, on April 5. According to Manoj, shortly after dinner, Shanti Devi's health deteriorated rapidly, leading to severe vomiting. Despite being rushed to a local doctor and later to clinics in Junabganj and Daroga Khera, she was declared dead. The family proceeded with her burial on April 6.
Manoj further alleged that Shalini was involved in a relationship with his nephew, Karan, a resident of Unnao. He claimed the duo conspired to eliminate family members systematically to avoid suspicion and gain control over the family's property. Police reports indicate that Shalini allegedly admitted to this plot, stating it began with poisoning her mother-in-law.
Police Action and Investigation Details
In response to these allegations, police have registered a murder case and taken swift action. An FIR has been lodged against Shalini and Karan. Station House Officer Satish Chand Rathore confirmed that Shalini has been detained, while efforts are ongoing to arrest Karan, who remains at large.
To determine the exact cause of death, police are seeking permission from the district magistrate to exhume Shanti Devi's body for a post-mortem examination. This step is crucial in corroborating the poisoning allegations and gathering forensic evidence.
Broader Implications and Community Impact
This case highlights serious issues related to family disputes and property crimes in urban and rural settings. The allegations of a calculated plot to murder for financial gain have sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about domestic safety and legal accountability.
Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activities and are emphasizing the importance of thorough investigations in such sensitive matters. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for handling similar incidents in the future.
