Lucknow Teen Murder: Uncle Arrested After Body Found in Gomti River
In a shocking incident in Lucknow, a 17-year-old girl was murdered and her body was discovered dumped in the Gomti River in the Madiaon area. Police have swiftly arrested the victim's uncle in connection with the crime, following an investigation that uncovered disturbing details.
Family Tragedy and Suspicious Circumstances
The teenage victim, who had lost both her parents, was living with her aunt and brother. Her aunt had married the accused approximately one-and-a-half years ago, making him part of the household. On Wednesday, the accused returned home claiming he had fallen from a ladder. He informed his wife that he was going to purchase medicines and took the young girl along with him.
Approximately 45 minutes later, the accused contacted the victim's brother with a harrowing tale. He alleged that unidentified men in a car intercepted them near the Mama colony turn, verbally abused him, and forcibly abducted the girl. The family immediately rushed to the location and alerted the police.
Police Investigation Uncovers Inconsistencies
Inspector Shivanand Mishra and his team arrived at the scene and began a thorough examination. They reviewed CCTV footage along the route described by the accused. "No car matching the description provided by the accused was observed in the footage," stated Mishra. "However, the accused was captured on multiple video clips moving with the girl. Police also found him in an intoxicated state, which further deepened our suspicions."
Authorities initiated a search along the riverbank, where they discovered the victim's slippers and clothes hidden in bushes near the Gomti River. A State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team was called in to assist with the operation.
Body Recovery and Forensic Findings
The girl's body was eventually recovered from the Gomti River near the pontoon bridge. Mishra confirmed that swabs have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for detailed analysis. "The autopsy report indicated drowning as the cause of death," he added, highlighting the grim findings.
Legal Action and Ongoing Probe
Police have formally booked the uncle on serious charges of rape and murder. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the north zone, Rishabh Runwal, emphasized that a comprehensive probe is currently underway to uncover all aspects of this tragic case.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about safety and familial trust. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure justice is served for the young victim.
