In a shocking incident of breach of trust, an employee of a private hospital in Ludhiana has allegedly fled with a substantial sum of cash, prompting a police investigation. The Division Number 3 police station has registered a formal case and launched a manhunt for the accused.
Cashier Disappears After Owner's Return
The incident came to light when the hospital's owner, Dr. Shiv Kumar Gupta, returned from an out-of-town trip with his family. Dr. Gupta had been away from December 22 to January 3. Upon his return, he found that the cashier, identified as Pramod Kumar Kakkar, was absent from duty.
When contacted, Kakkar, a resident of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, informed the doctor that a sum of Rs 12.84 lakh had been received at the hospital during the owner's absence. However, his story quickly unraveled when Dr. Gupta asked him to produce the cash accounts and provide a proper explanation for the funds.
FIR Registered Under BNS, Raids Underway
Failing to offer a satisfactory account, Kakkar allegedly left the hospital premises and has been untraceable since. Suspecting outright misappropriation and theft, Dr. Gupta approached the police with a formal complaint.
Acting on the complaint, the Division Number 3 police have taken swift action. ASI Paramjit Singh, the investigating officer on the case, confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Pramod Kumar Kakkar. The case has been filed under the relevant section of the new Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police teams are currently conducting raids at possible hideouts to locate and apprehend the accused cashier. The investigation is actively ongoing to recover the stolen money.
A Case of Trust Betrayed
This incident highlights a severe case of employee fraud within a critical service sector like healthcare. Kakkar, who was entrusted with the financial responsibilities of a cashier, allegedly exploited the owner's temporary absence to commit the crime.
The local police's prompt registration of the FIR demonstrates their serious approach to the case. The outcome of the ongoing raids is now eagerly awaited by the hospital management, which has suffered a significant financial loss. The case serves as a cautionary tale for businesses regarding financial oversight and employee verification.
