Ludhiana Police Identify Three Primary Suspects in Fugitive's Public Park Murder
Police in Ludhiana have made significant progress in the Jamalpur killing case, identifying three primary suspects involved in the murder of Pardeep Kumar Billa, a 20-year-old resident of Ram Nagar who was himself a fugitive at the time of his death. The victim was shot in a public park, with investigators pointing to a long-standing feud between criminal gangs as the likely motive behind the brutal attack.
Woman Associate Arrested for Providing Shelter to Gunmen
In a crucial development, authorities have arrested a woman associate who allegedly provided the gunmen with shelter following the murder. This arrest has provided detectives with fresh leads as they continue their manhunt for the main perpetrators. Billa was discovered on January 21 with a fatal gunshot wound to the temple, and despite carrying an illegal pistol in his waistband during the attack, he was reportedly unable to draw the weapon before being killed.
Violent History and Rivalry Between Victim and Attackers
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Industrial Area-B) Inderjit Singh Boparai has stated that the murder represents the culmination of a violent history between the victim and his attackers. "The accused trio and Billa had an old rivalry with multiple prior scuffles and cross-FIRs (first-information reports) filed against each other," ACP Boparai explained. "We believe this rivalry was the direct motive for the killing." Preliminary investigations suggest that the parties initially met in the park under the pretense of resolving their differences, but the encounter quickly escalated into a verbal altercation before ending in gunfire.
Victim's Extensive Criminal Background and Previous Offenses
The victim had a significant criminal history, with seven FIRs registered against him. At the time of his murder, Billa was wanted for a high-profile "murder attempt" on October 21, 2025. In that incident, Billa and an accomplice allegedly shot and injured a 22-year-old labourer named Asgar during a dispute that was originally intended for another individual. This background adds complexity to the ongoing investigation and highlights the dangerous nature of the criminal networks involved.
Ongoing Police Efforts and Coordinated Raids
While the main gunmen remain at large, the arrest of their woman accomplice has bolstered police efforts to track them down. "The cops are conducting coordinated raids to catch the main accused," ACP Boparai confirmed. "The woman who sheltered them is in custody currently and being questioned regarding their whereabouts." The investigation continues as authorities work to bring all those responsible to justice and prevent further violence in the community.
