Iqbal Singh, the victim's father, made the heartbreaking discovery when he went upstairs to call his son for lunch. He found Harshdeep Singh hanging from a ceiling fan in their family home. The 31-year-old, who operated a car wash business and had previously worked as an immigration agent, had left behind a detailed suicide note that named a man from Tarn Taran and that man's brother-in-law as the individuals responsible for his distress.
According to family statements, the suicide note described a harrowing ordeal involving a monetary dispute and alleged intimidation that specifically occurred at a cybercrime police station. Iqbal Singh has publicly alleged that the accused individuals used their influence and position to harass his son over financial dealings, with the cybercrime police station serving as the primary location for these alleged incidents.

Police authorities have taken official action by registering a first-information report (FIR) for abetment to suicide under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
