Man Arrested in Palamu District for Allegedly Molesting Minor Dalit Girl on Bus
A 50-year-old man was apprehended by police in Palamu district on Saturday, accused of molesting a minor Dalit girl on a private bus. The arrest followed a swift response from law enforcement after the bus crew reported the incident.

According to Officer-in-Charge Deobrat Poddar of the local police station, the accused had boarded the bus on National Highway-98 after selling items at a Ram Navami fair. The girl, accompanied by her aunt and maternal grandfather, was traveling on the same bus from another location.
Taking advantage of severe overcrowding, the man allegedly molested the girl during the journey. Poddar stated that the bus crew were aware of the crime and promptly stopped the vehicle near the police station. Police personnel then segregated the accused from the crowd and detained him for questioning.
Legal Charges and Custody
Based on a written complaint filed by the girl's aunt, the accused was formally booked under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. He was subsequently sent to judicial custody on Saturday evening, as confirmed by the police officer.
