A 31-year-old man was brutally beaten to death by three individuals, including his wife and brother-in-law, in the Vanasthalipuram area of Hyderabad on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as G Venkatesh, a hotel worker from BN Reddy Nagar. According to Vanasthalipuram inspector S Ravi Babu, Venkatesh married Swapna in 2015, and the couple had three children together.
Background of the Incident
Venkatesh was reportedly addicted to alcohol and did not work regularly, which led to marital discord. Swapna left him four years ago and moved in with her brother, Pandu, at a government double-bedroom house in Vanasthalipuram. On Tuesday night, around 11 pm, Venkatesh allegedly went to the seventh-floor flat under the influence of alcohol and got into an argument with Swapna, demanding to see his children.
The Assault
Swapna, Pandu, and his friend Jagadish asked Venkatesh to leave and return in the morning. However, when Venkatesh refused to heed their request, the trio forcibly evicted him from the premises. During the eviction, they punched him in the face and stomach. Other residents reportedly witnessed the assault in the corridor on the third floor. The trio then took Venkatesh to the ground floor and left him there in the corridor after he fell unconscious.
Discovery and Legal Action
On Wednesday morning, other residents called a 108 ambulance. The medical staff declared Venkatesh dead on arrival. Police were alerted, and the body was sent for an autopsy. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's brother, G Tirupathi, a case was registered under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the three accused. The accused are currently in police custody.
