Husband Booked After Wife's Tragic Death in Mumbai

The Mumbai Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against a 48-year-old man, Vijay Dhawan, following the death of his 40-year-old wife, Sonali. The incident occurred at their residence in Mulund, where Sonali was allegedly found dead by hanging.

Family Alleges Torture and Forgery

According to a complaint filed by Sonali's brother, the couple had married against their family's wishes and have two daughters. The family has accused Vijay of being suspicious by nature and subjecting Sonali to severe physical and mental torture, often beating her under the suspicion of her having an affair.

The complaint details a disturbing incident from last month during Diwali, when the family visited Sonali and noticed bruises on her face. When they confronted Vijay about the injuries, Sonali reportedly intervened and asked them not to discuss the matter further.

The Disputed Suicide Note and Police Action

The situation reached a tragic climax on November 8, when the family received a call from Vijay informing them that Sonali had died by suicide. He claimed she had left behind a suicide note stating she was having an affair.

However, when the family rushed to the hospital and saw the note, they immediately disputed its authenticity. They asserted that the handwriting did not match Sonali's. Based on their complaint, the Mulund police station registered an FIR against Vijay Dhawan.

An investigating officer confirmed that samples of Sonali's past writing and the disputed suicide note will be sent to handwriting experts for forensic analysis to determine if they were written by the same person. The police are proceeding with their investigation based on the serious allegations made by the deceased's family.
