Man burnt alive as car catches fire in Jalandhar

A 30-year-old dairy owner was burnt alive when his car caught fire near Pholriwal village in Jalandhar on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 11:12 PM on June 23, 2026, as per reports.

Villagers unable to rescue victim

Seeing the vehicle in flames, villagers attempted to rescue the victim but were unsuccessful because the car was locked from inside. They immediately alerted the police and the fire brigade.

Teams from Sadar police station arrived at the spot and checked the car's records online. The car was registered under Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Chakoke village in Nadala, Kapurthala.

Investigation reveals cause

Further investigation revealed that Gurpreet Singh had sold the vehicle. Sadar police station SHO Sanjeev Kumar stated that preliminary findings indicate the fire started due to an explosion of a body spray can.

The explosion caused the driver, Parbhat Singh, to lose control of the car. It hit a pole before catching fire. Because the car was locked from inside, the driver could not be rescued.

Identification challenges

The SHO noted that the body was severely burnt, making identification difficult. “Through the car agency, we got to know that the driver was a 30-year-old dairy owner of Basti Bawa Khel in Jalandhar. His family has been contacted for completing all formalities,” he said.
