Man Found Dead in Cachar, One Arrested in Murder Probe

Police in Assam's Cachar district are investigating the suspicious death of a young man found in a paddy field early Saturday morning. The incident occurred in Nishchintapur village, which sits close to the Bangladesh border.

Body Discovered Near Family Home

A 28-year-old man named Jamrul Islam, also known as Sajai, was found dead. His father, Hani Mia, made the grim discovery. Jamrul had just returned to his village from his workplace in Meghalaya on Friday evening. He traveled back with two other young men.

While his companions reached their own homes safely, Jamrul never made it back that night. Concerned, his father went out searching on Saturday morning. He found his son's body lying in a paddy field not far from their family residence.

Villagers React with Anger and Panic

The shocking discovery immediately caused alarm in the small village. Local residents gathered at the scene, expressing both panic and anger over the incident. The atmosphere in Nishchintapur grew tense following the news.

Police Launch Investigation and Make Arrest

Officers from the Gumra police investigation centre quickly responded to the scene. The team, led by officer-in-charge Pranab Mili, recovered the body from the field. They sent it to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police have already taken one person into custody. Authorities arrested one of the youths who traveled with Jamrul from Meghalaya. Investigators report this individual was the last person seen with the victim on Friday night.

Search Continues for Absconding Suspect

The investigation is actively progressing. Police confirm that the second youth who made the journey with Jamrul is currently absconding. Law enforcement officials are working to locate this individual for questioning.

A full investigation is now underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Jamrul Islam's death. Police strongly suspect foul play in this case. They are examining all evidence and statements to piece together the events leading to the tragedy.
