In a distressing incident, the Ernakulam rural police have launched a comprehensive investigation after a man was discovered dead in a well on a private property located near the Aluva Sub Jail. The Aluva police have stated that, based on initial assessments, there appears to be no foul play involved, with preliminary findings strongly indicating that the cause of death was drowning.
Discovery of the Body and Initial Response
The body was found by a woman who works at the private property after she detected the foul odor of a rotting corpse. She immediately alerted the authorities, prompting a swift response from the Aluva police. Upon arrival, officers conducted inquest proceedings at the scene to gather evidence and document the circumstances. The body was subsequently moved to a hospital for a detailed autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death and gather further insights.
Police Investigation and Key Details
As of now, the police have been unable to identify the deceased individual. However, they have noted that the man appears to be under 35 years of age, and there are no other visible injuries on the body, supporting the drowning theory. In a significant development, authorities are exploring a potential link to a recent attempted theft in the vicinity. An officer involved in the case revealed that CCTV footage from the area shows a man who closely resembles the deceased, leading investigators to probe whether the two individuals are the same person.
Further inquiries are underway to determine if the deceased might have entered the private compound while under the influence of alcohol and accidentally fell into the well. The police are meticulously examining all angles to rule out any criminal involvement, though the current evidence points toward an accidental death. This incident has raised concerns about safety measures in the area, and the investigation continues to unfold as more details emerge.
