Man Found Hanging in Etawah, Family Alleges Murder

Tension gripped the Ikdil area of Etawah district on Tuesday after the body of a 30-year-old man, missing since Monday, was discovered hanging from a tree in the ravines near Manikpur village. The deceased, identified as Ranjit, a resident of Nagla Bar village, had left home on Monday afternoon and later became untraceable after his mobile phone was switched off. His wife, Pooja, alleged that despite informing the Manikpur Mohan police outpost, no prompt search operation was launched by the authorities.

Family Alleges Murder and Police Negligence

Family members alleged that Ranjit was murdered and his body was later hanged using a plastic rope. They pointed to injury marks on his neck and cited an old land dispute in the village as a possible motive. Villagers claimed that timely police action could have saved his life. On Wednesday, angry villagers and family members attempted to march towards the residence of the Superintendent of Police (SSP) with the body but were stopped near the Civil Lines police station. This led to a road blockade and sloganeering against the police, with the protest continuing for nearly an hour before officials pacified the crowd.

Police Response and Investigation

CO City Abhay Narayan Rai stated that a panel conducted the post-mortem and the exact cause of death would be known after the report arrives. The police have assured a thorough investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the family has demanded strict action against the accused and compensation for the loss of life.
