A tragic incident unfolded in the Siwana area of Balotra district on Saturday, where a 32-year-old man allegedly killed his wife by slitting her throat during a heated dispute. The accused then attempted to take his own life by stabbing himself with the same knife, according to police reports.
Details of the Incident
Siwana police station CI Chandra Singh identified the accused as Nitesh Kumar Jingar. Police stated that Nitesh called his wife, Kanta, aged 30, to a lane near her maternal home at Jingaron Ka Vaas. An argument broke out between the couple at that location. During the altercation, Nitesh allegedly attacked Kanta with a knife, inflicting a fatal throat wound that killed her instantly.
Suicide Attempt by Accused
Following the murder, Nitesh allegedly turned the knife on himself, stabbing himself in the throat and stomach in an attempt to commit suicide. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the dispute.
Authorities are working to ascertain the motive behind the killing, with preliminary reports suggesting a domestic disagreement. Further investigations are underway.
