However, Kailashkumar Jain from Surat decided to take matters into his own hands in a most unconventional manner. After his Maruti Ertiga was seized by the bank for loan default, Jain refused to let go of what he considered his prized possession.
Tracking the Vehicle to Remote Panchmahal
Jain reportedly discovered that his former vehicle had been sold as a used car and was located in Suliyat village of Morva taluka in Panchmahal district. The current owner, hairdresser Manhar Raval, had purchased the vehicle from Idar and parked it near his uncle's residence on the night of January 9.
What happened next demonstrates meticulous planning and execution. Under the cover of darkness around midnight, Jain traveled to the remote village and, using a second key he had retained from when he owned the car, successfully stole back the vehicle he once possessed.
Police Investigation Unravels the Scheme
The theft came to light when Raval discovered his car missing the following morning and immediately reported the incident to local authorities. Police investigation quickly pointed to Jain as the prime suspect in the case.
During questioning, Jain admitted to purchasing the Maruti Ertiga in April 2024 with a bank loan but failing to maintain the installment payments. The financial institution subsequently seized the vehicle on July 24, 2025, as per standard recovery procedures for defaulted loans.
