Masked Men Target Car in Ludhiana's Smart City Colony in Early Morning Attack
In a disturbing incident in Ludhiana, three masked individuals allegedly vandalized a parked Maruti Suzuki Ritz car during the early hours of Monday. The attack occurred outside a residence in Smart City Colony, with the entire episode being captured on a closed-circuit television camera installed at the property.
CCTV Footage Reveals Methodical Vandalism
According to the surveillance footage, the incident unfolded at approximately 1:52 AM. The video shows three masked men arriving at the location riding a scooter that notably lacked a registration number plate. Two of the individuals disembarked from the vehicle and proceeded to attack the car with a hammer, specifically targeting the rear windshield and side windows. After completing their destructive act, all three perpetrators quickly fled the scene on the same scooter.
The car owner, identified as Himanshu, who works for a private company, expressed confusion about the motive behind the attack. He stated that he has no personal conflicts with anyone and cannot comprehend why his vehicle was singled out. Interestingly, the hammer allegedly used by the vandals was later discovered inside the car seat, providing potential evidence for investigators.
Police Complaint Filed and Investigation Initiated
Himanshu promptly filed a formal complaint at the Jagatpuri police post and provided authorities with the crucial CCTV footage. The visual evidence clearly depicts the accused wearing masks to conceal their identities, while the scooter they used remained without any visible license plate, complicating identification efforts.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Sukhjinder Singh, who oversees the Jagatpuri police post, confirmed that police have received the complaint and have launched a thorough inquiry. "We are currently examining the CCTV footage in detail," stated ASI Singh. "However, since the accused were wearing masks, identifying them will require additional time and investigative work. Our team is making concerted efforts to trace and apprehend the suspects."
Pattern of Similar Incidents Emerges in the Locality
Local residents revealed that this vandalism incident is not an isolated occurrence in Smart City Colony. Geeta Verma, another resident of the area, disclosed that her Maruti Baleno car suffered similar damage approximately one week earlier. In that case, the side windows of her vehicle were smashed, but without CCTV cameras nearby, her family initially attributed the damage to possible child's play and opted not to file a police report, instead arranging for window repairs.
Verma now believes the same culprits might be responsible for multiple acts of vandalism in the neighborhood. She indicated that over the past two and a half months, nearly four vehicles in the locality have sustained damage in comparable fashion. The absence of video evidence during previous incidents had left the reasons behind these attacks unclear until now.
Residents Demand Enhanced Security Measures
Following this latest episode, residents of Smart City Colony have collectively called for stricter police intervention and increased night patrolling in the area to deter future vandalism attempts. The community's growing concern highlights the need for improved security protocols to protect private property and ensure neighborhood safety.
