A fire broke out at a plywood warehouse in Rewari's Gokalgarh village on Sunday, destroying the rear section and prompting a response from 10 fire tenders; five workers sleeping outside escaped unharmed.
Fire Erupts at Wood Studio Warehouse
The fire started around 6 am at the plywood showroom and warehouse, Wood Studio, in Gokalgarh village, Rewari district. Witnesses reported that flames spread rapidly due to the combustible materials stored inside, engulfing much of the rear section within minutes. Nearby shopkeepers panicked as the fire threatened to spread to adjoining commercial establishments.
Workers Narrowly Escape
Five labourers who were sleeping outside the warehouse noticed the flames in time and managed to rush to safety. The owner alerted the police and fire department, prompting a swift response.
Ten Fire Tenders Deployed
As the blaze intensified, additional fire engines were summoned from Dharuhera and the Bawal Industrial Model Township. In total, 10 fire tenders were pressed into service. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly two-and-a-half hours before bringing the situation under control. Assistant Fire Officer Sanjay Dhillon confirmed, "The department received information about the fire at around 6 am."
Extent of Damage
The rear portion of the warehouse was extensively damaged, while firefighters succeeded in saving part of the front section. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
