Mathura Family Tragedy: Couple and Three Young Children Found Dead in Apparent Mass Suicide

In a deeply disturbing incident that has shaken the community, a couple and their three young children were discovered deceased in their residence in Mathura district on Tuesday morning. Preliminary investigations strongly indicate that this was a case of mass suicide, with the father allegedly orchestrating the tragic event.

Discovery of the Tragedy

The heartbreaking scene unfolded in Khapparpur village when the family failed to emerge from their home during the morning hours. Sudhir, the elder brother of the deceased man who resides nearby, grew concerned when he noticed no activity from the house. Taking matters into his own hands, he scaled the outer wall to investigate and made the horrific discovery of the bodies inside a room.

Police were immediately alerted and arrived at the scene. The deceased have been identified as Manish Kumar, a 35-year-old local farmer; his 32-year-old wife Seema; their two daughters Hunny (5) and Priyanshi (4); and their 2-year-old son Pankaj. All five bodies were sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact circumstances of their deaths.

Chilling Evidence Left Behind

Investigators uncovered several pieces of evidence that paint a grim picture of what transpired. A 48-second video recording was recovered from Manish Kumar's mobile phone, along with a handwritten note scribbled directly on the room's wall. According to ADG (Agra zone) Anupam Kulshrestha, the content of both the video and the note suggested this was a premeditated act of mass suicide.

The note, written in Hindi, explicitly stated: "I, Manish and Seema are committing suicide of my own will. Police should not bother anyone." In the video recording, which police believe was made between 4am and 5am, Manish can be heard making a similar declaration, possibly just minutes before carrying out the tragic plan.

Sequence of Events and Investigation

Preliminary forensic analysis suggests the entire tragic episode spanned approximately two hours. According to police reports, Manish Kumar first strangled his three young children with a rope, then fatally struck his wife with a heavy object, before ultimately taking his own life through electrocution.

Police have recovered a diary from the scene where Manish reportedly wrote that he took this extreme step on his own and that no one else should be held responsible for their deaths. Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar confirmed that all possible angles are being thoroughly investigated, including whether occult practices might have played any role in this tragedy.

Family Background and Possible Motives

Neighbors and family members have expressed complete shock at the incident, describing Manish Kumar as a farmer who worked on approximately three bighas of ancestral land in Mathura district. According to those who knew him, he did not have any outstanding loans or apparent financial pressures that might explain such a drastic action.

His elder brother Sudhir revealed that in the video recording, Manish mentioned having sold a plot of land for Rs 19 lakh, with approximately Rs 7 lakh still due to him. However, Sudhir emphasized that his brother clearly stated in the recording that this financial matter was not the reason behind their decision to end their lives.

The couple had been married for about eight years, and their two daughters were enrolled in the village school. Manish's two brothers live separately in the same village, maintaining what appeared to be normal family relationships.

Psychological Factors Under Scrutiny

A senior police officer involved in the investigation has indicated that Manish Kumar may have had a history of psychiatric issues, though this aspect requires further verification. The absence of obvious external pressures—financial, familial, or social—has led investigators to consider mental health as a potentially significant factor in this tragedy.

The Mathura police continue their comprehensive investigation, examining every possible angle to understand what could drive a seemingly ordinary family to such an extreme conclusion. The community remains in mourning as they struggle to comprehend this devastating loss of five lives, including three innocent children whose futures were abruptly cut short.
