In a tragic incident in Tamil Nadu's Tiruppur district, a 24-year-old migrant labourer from Bihar was beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of misbehaving with a woman. The incident occurred on Sunday night in the Kangeyam area, sparking outrage and highlighting the vulnerability of migrant workers in the region.
Details of the Incident
The victim, identified as Rakesh Kumar, was a native of Bihar's Muzaffarpur district. He had been working at a private textile unit in Kangeyam for the past few months. According to police, the incident took place when Rakesh allegedly misbehaved with a local woman. The woman raised an alarm, attracting a crowd of locals who confronted Rakesh.
Tensions escalated quickly, and the mob began assaulting Rakesh with sticks and stones. Despite his attempts to flee, he was caught and brutally beaten. By the time police arrived at the scene, Rakesh had sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to a government hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Senior police officials have assured that strict action will be taken against all those involved. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to prevent any further communal tension.
Reactions and Concerns
The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of migrant workers in Tamil Nadu. Migrant labourers, primarily from northern and eastern states, often face discrimination and are vulnerable to mob violence. Local leaders and activists have condemned the killing and demanded justice for Rakesh Kumar.
The Bihar government has also taken note of the incident and is in touch with Tamil Nadu authorities. The victim's family has been informed, and arrangements are being made to transport the body to Bihar.
This tragic event underscores the need for better protection of migrant workers and swift legal action against mob violence. As investigations continue, the community remains on edge, hoping for a fair and transparent judicial process.
