Missing Cachar Teens Found in Guwahati, Abduction Suspected

In a swift operation, police successfully traced three minor girls from Assam's Cachar district who had gone missing, locating them in Guwahati on Sunday. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with preliminary investigations pointing towards a possible abduction.

Girls Located in North Guwahati

The three teenagers, identified as Rekha Ganju (14), Reshmi Ganju (16), and Kamala Goswami (14), are all residents of the Kumbha tea garden in Udharbond, Cachar district. They were reported missing earlier, prompting immediate concern from their families and local authorities.

Acting on leads, a police team managed to track the girls down to the Gauripur area in north Guwahati. Following the crucial tip-off, a dedicated team from the Cachar police district rushed to the state capital to secure the minors.

Police Investigation Points to Abduction

While officials have been cautious about revealing specific details surrounding the disappearance, a senior police source indicated that preliminary findings suggest this was a case of abduction. The circumstances that led the girls from their home in the tea garden to Guwahati are now the central focus of an ongoing inquiry.

"Further inquiry is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events," officials stated, emphasizing that the priority was to understand the motive and identify any individuals involved in the incident.

Safe Return to Silchar

The immediate concern for authorities was the well-being and safe return of the girls. After being located and taken into protective custody in Guwahati, arrangements were made to bring them back to Silchar. The minors were expected to be reunited with their families in Silchar by Sunday evening.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety and security of young individuals in the region. The police's prompt action in tracing the girls across districts has been noted, but the suspected abduction has raised serious questions that the continuing investigation aims to answer.
