The body of a 30-year-old man, who had been missing for three days, was discovered in a field at Badlu Bigha village under the Paras Bigha police station area of Jehanabad district on Friday morning, sparking tension in the locality. The deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar, a resident of the same village. His family has alleged that he was murdered following a dispute with a fellow villager over the burning of wheat stubble.
Background of the Incident
According to family members, Arun had an argument with a villager a few days ago regarding setting fire to harvested wheat straw in a field. Shortly after the altercation, he went missing. His sister-in-law, Archana Devi, stated that the family attempted to locate him on their own but failed. They subsequently informed the police by calling the Dial 112 emergency helpline.
Discovery of the Body
On Friday morning, villagers spotted a body lying in a field and alerted Arun's family and the police. A police team immediately rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. The body was sent to Jehanabad sadar hospital for post-mortem and was later handed over to the family after the procedure.
Police Investigation
Jehanabad Superintendent of Police (SP) Aprajit Lohan also visited the site of the incident. He stated that the exact cause of death is not yet clear. "No visible injury marks or weapon-related signs have been found on the body, so murder cannot be confirmed at this stage," the SP said. A sniffer dog squad and forensic team were called to collect evidence from the spot. Police noted that the family has yet to submit a written complaint. The cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report is received. Further investigation is underway.
